SMWS 4-22
It’s finally over! Instead of posting my original SMWS I
just thought I’d write up a little reflection of the school year. The way that
we went back and took a focused look at social media this semester was pretty
interesting. Not just the SMWS assignments, but the essays as well. To be
honest, at the beginning of the semester I thought that an English class based
off of Facebook was asking too much, but as the semester moved on and we
completed more assignments, I eased into the thought and found it actually
quite interesting. I think the ideas behind each of the essays were very solid
and made you think about the way you use social media. The Facebook in slow
motion assignment really gave me a new perspective on not only how people
argue, but all the little nuances that are hidden in their arguments as well.
The SMWS assignments were helpful as well, although I don’t think they gave as
in depth a look as some of the essay assignments. The week where we gave up Facebook was the most rewarding SMWS assignment in my opinion. It was eye
opening to see how much I used not only Facebook but twitter as well, and how
much of an impact it had on me. The fact that I couldn’t give it up for a full
week was actually kind of sad… but at least it gave me motivation to use it
less often. All in all it was a very good course and I’m glad I got to finish
it.
